No stranger to the Sacramento market, The Moody Blues\u2019 front-man Justin Hayward has been playing the K Street venue for many years and with great success. Over the course of half a century, Justin Hayward\u2019s undeniable voice and guitar-playing abilities have made him a household name all over the globe. And while The Moody Blues\u2019 catalog is strong enough on its own, the 77-year-old vocal maestro has released a bevy of solo albums and with great success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee is quite busy this year and will be touring both in the states and the United Kingdom. As luck would have it, he\u2019s starting his 2024 US tour in Sacramento and will inevitably end his run at the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, New York on July 21. For those who\u2019ve never seen the elder statesman of classic rock, expect an unforgettable evening of both his older and newer material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the writer of The Moody Blues\u2019 most requested and respected songs including \u201cNights in White Satin,\u201d \u201cQuestion,\u201d \u201cYour Wildest Dreams,\u201d \u201cNew Horizons,\u201d \u201cI Know You\u2019re Out There Somewhere,\u201d \u201cTuesday Afternoon,\u201d \u201cStory In Your Eyes,\u201d and \u201cThe Voice,\u201d Hayward\u2019s catalog has stood the test of time selling a staggering 55 million plus records since his debut record withe the band, \u2018Days Of Future Passed’ (1967).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the band\u2019s many hardcore fans would argue which record was their best, every record from 1967 to 1986 achieved Gold or Platinum status. Of worthy mention was \u2018Seventh Sojourn\u2019 (1970) which reached #1 in the US but, sadly, was one of the darkest times for the group. Said late drummer Graeme Edge, “At the time of recording Seventh Sojourn, it was my least favorite album. But years later, after coming to it with fresh ears and away from all of the pressures of that time, I realized that it was really rather good!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moody Blues released yet another #1 Top Billboard album in the US with fan-favorite \u2018Long Distance Voyager\u2019 (1981) that saw songs like \u201cGemini Dream\u201d and \u201cThe Voice\u201d bring even more fans into the fold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the uninitiated, a re-release of Justin\u2019s \u2018Nights In White Satin\u2019 amazingly rose to #2 on the US singles chart earning Hayward one of his four well-deserved ASCAP awards. He also launched a successful solo career in 1977 with \u2018Songwriter\u2019 on Deram Records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those looking to hear Justin\u2019s latest solo material, the \u2018One Summer Day\u2019 EP (2020) is a great starting point featuring the ultra-catchy \u201cLiving for Love\u201d single.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
