Not since Tangerine Dream or Jean Michel-Jarre\u2019s signature recordings has a duo rendered such a noteworthy time capsule. The duo\u2019s formula is twofold: layer each song until there\u2019s virtually zero space for cross-comparison, and use melancholy to drive the mother lode. The simple subtleties found within tracks like \u201cGone\u201d speak volumes. One listen to \u201cUnrecorded\u201d or \u201cBe Wild\u201d should be enough reason to toss those Boards of Canada records aside.
